Aqaba

Aqaba is Jordan's only port city, located on the Gulf of Aqaba in the extreme south of the country. Aqaba is Jordan's window on the Red Sea. Historically the same city as Eilat on the Israeli side of the border, plans for a shared international airport and other forms of cooperation have cooled down in the past few years during a period of political tension.

  • I saw Eilat form there, but never went to israel  Fredy Z.
  • Beautiful, balmy evenings are what you would expect in Aqaba. The Gulf of Aqaba is very nice. In less than 50 kms you can cross 4 countries: Egypt , Israel , Jordan and Saudi Arabia . The Jodan border in the Gulf of Aqaba is 35 kms. From Aqaba you can see Isreal.  Miranda S.
  • It is possible to cross the border between Israel and Jordan in AQABAH. From there it is possible to go by bus to PETRA.  Kurt E.
