Ashland

Ashland is a city in Southern Oregon located at the south end of the Rogue Valley, only about 15 miles from the California border. Ashland is a small town, home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival one of the largest and oldest regional theatres in the country.

  • Everyone comes here for the plays, and no doubt they should, but try out the shopping, not only on the main drag, but down the adjacent streets. There are some excellent art galleries in town; you probably won't be able to plunk down $20,000 for a glass sculpture but just gazing on it is a treat. • Cornelia V.
