
The Bolan Pass is in Pakistan. This route is only open at this time for locals and aid workers.
This is an alternative to the Khyber Pass further North. See comments there; the ethnic groups and dangers are similar.
The local language is Pushtu, but many people also speak Pakistan's Urdu or Afghanistan's Dari. A few speak English.
The pass links Kandahar in Afghanistan to Quetta in Pakistan. There are small towns in between.
This area, as of mid-2008, is definitely not safe.You should get an armed guard with you.
