Calafat

Calafat is a city in Oltenia, southwestern Romania.

Overview

Calafat is a major crossing point between Romania and Bulgaria. For now the crossing is done by ferry across the Danube river to Vidin on the Bulgarian side, but a bridge is in construction.

Getting There
By train

There are four slow (the 107 km trip takes three - three and half hours) Personal type trains daily from Craiova.

By bus

There are frequent buses from Craiova; travel time is around two hours.

By ferry

The ferry to/from Vidin runs several times per day.

Getting Around

The city is walkable.
