Carmel-by-the-Sea, often called just Carmel, is five miles south of Monterey city in the Monterey Bay region of California. Carmel is a beautiful oceanside town on California's Highway 1, complete with dramatic views, white beaches, friendly locals and great food.

  • Originally an artists' colony set against the Pacific Ocean, Pebble Beach Golf Course is right next door. Bring your golf clubs, your eye for art, your appetite for gourmet food, and a wad of cash.   • Nice little seaside Californian town. Very wealthy, but pretty. If your in San Francisco its worth a visit along with Monterey. The drive down the Pacific Highway alone makes it worthwhile, its breath-taking!  Andrew C.
