Overview

Cottbus is a small city and due to high unemployment the city has to suffer from the brain drain to more prosperus German cities. The proximity to Berlin allows a lot of people to commute between the cities.

Getting There

Either via the Autobahn from Berlin or Dresden. There is an hourly train from Berlin to Cottbus.

Cottbus is known for two things:

  1. FC Energie Cottbus - FC Energie Cottbus is Cottbus' professional soccer team in the 2. Bundesliga (2nd tier football leaque).
  2. Lignite extraction in the open pits aorund the town
