Galle

Galle is in Sri Lanka. From Colombo you can take the train or bus. Both travel right next to the beach coast and have beautiful views. This is why getting in is one of the best things about Galle. Depending on traffic, or how many stops the train makes, traveling from Colombo city can be anywhere from 2.5 to 4 hours.

Galle Travel Tips
Galle travel tips courtesy of GeckoGo
  • Galle is very much worth visiting: Beautiful old colonial town surrounded by walls that even withstood the Tsunami. Lots of Dutch streetnames and so.  André S.
  • relaxing place, excellent food  Aksel D.
  • Have tea at the Galle Hotel. It is spledidly Victorian and the afternoon tea is for all the world like the high tea of British colonial times. After tea, walk along the ramparts. Take some cash to give the cliff diving boys. At sunset it makes for a very good picture.  Robert L.
