Gloucester

Gloucester is the county town of Gloucestershire in England's West Country. The City of Gloucester is the furthest inland port in the UK, situated beside the River Severn. It inspired the old English nursery rhyme: 'Dick Whittington', born around 1350, a well-known character through the pantomime story, has connections with Gloucester.

Gloucester Travel Tips
Gloucester travel tips courtesy of GeckoGo
  • Gloucester is a beautiful city with a very historic cathedral. The docks have been converted into commercial stores and Beatrice Potter Store is also there, not too far from the Cathedral.  Lea N.
  • I passed through here and it seems lovely!  RosiePosie. R.
  • If you are looking for somewhere for lunch, go to Cafe Renee, just tucked away at the end of the town nearest the historic quays: great beer, great food and a great historic decor.  Andy G.
