Holbrook
Holbrook is a service town on the Hume Highway in Southern New South Wales best known for the decommissioned submarine that stands next to the highway in the centre of the town.
Getting There
The Hume Highway between Sydney and Melbourne passes straight through Holbrook, roughly half way between the two. The town is yet to be bypassed so it provides, along with Tarcutta, a stopping possibility without taking a leaving the highway, or stopping at highway services.
Sights
The submarine. You walk on it, have a barbecue, or have coffee at cafe next to it. There are some interpretive signs. Admission is free, and is a good alternative stopping place to the bland fast food restaurants or highway services.
