Imatra

Imatra www.imatra.fi is an industrial town in South Karelia. It is dominated by Lake Saimaa, the River Vuoksi and the Finnish-Russian border. Imatra’s over 300-year-old history of busy tourism is greatly attributed to the attraction of the spectacular rapids of the river Vuoksi which have enticed many illustrious personas to visit the area throughout the ages.

  • The most well known attraction in Imatra are the Imatrankoski rapids. The rapids are near the center of the town and it's a good place to have a little walk.   • Big band - weeks, good music and lot of people have fun. Imatran valtionhotelli is best place ever, beautiful and old. Imatran koski is also pretty. Einolan talli is good stable.  Tuuli M.
  • The Imatran Hotel is amazing - from gorgeous breakfasts (the best I had in Finland) to beautiful architecture, to the lovely surrounding scenery. If you can afford it, not to be missed.  John H.
