Kaliningrad

Kaliningrad also known by its original German name, Königsberg, is the capital city of Kaliningrad Oblast in Russia. It has about 450,000 inhabitants. It is also called 'Karaliaucius' in Lithuanian, as Lithuanians used to live there.

  • This is a Soviet-style city built on ruins of the old city of Konigsberg. The two, however, have almost nothing in common, except for the location, the cathedral with Immanuel Kant grave and a few nazi-constructed buildings.
