Khimki

Khimki is a mid-sized city in North Moscow Oblast, adjacent to Moscow, with a prominent historical role in the Soviet aerospace industry, some very large upscale shopping malls, and fast-growing residential districts for Muscovite commuters. Khimki is not, however, a tourist destination, and there is relatively little to see and do.

Getting There

By suburb train from Leningradskii station to Khimki station or Levoberegnaya platform (a district on the left bank of Moscow channel)

A lot of buses and marshrutkas running from Rechnoy Vokzal metro station, at the north end of the Green Line. You can also reach Khimki by marshrutkas, bus or trolleybus from Planernaya metro station.

Eating

  • nothing special, nothing intersting. Now it is basically a part of Moscow. Buildings and buildings of Soviet style. The only reason why you should go here is that here is situated part of Russian state Library, its journals/newspapers/dissertations section.  Arkadiy L.
