Kop van Noord-Holland www.vvvkopvannoordholland.nl is a region within North-Holland in the West of the Netherlands.
Overview
A part of Kop van Noord-Holland is known as West Friesland (or West Frisia). Not to be confused with Friesland, a province in the North of the country. West-Friesland is a distinct area with it's own dialect West-Frisian that is related to the langage of Friesland in the north.

- Alkmaar — popular for its cheese market and historic centre
- Bergen — artist village at the beach, with the Schoorlse Duinen nearby
- Broek op Langedijk — the Museum Broeker Veiling is notably interesting
- Castricum — has a nice beach, the lake of Alkmaar-Uitgeest and the dunes
- Den Helder — home to the country's main naval base and the ferry to Texel
- Enkhuizen — historic town with the Zuiderzeemuseum, a large open-air museum of the Netherlands in the period 1850-1950
- Heerhugowaard — modern suburb, but has some historic elements
- Heiloo — built around a white church, this town expanded rapidly due to an influx of inhabitants from Amsterdam
- Hoorn — stunning historic centre with a cozy atmosphere
- Medemblik — small village that has a rich history with many old buildings, castles and monuments
- Schagen — historic town centre and the Schager Wiel nature area

Language
The Hollandic Dutch dialect of West-Frisian is spoken. Not to be confused with Frisian as spoken in the province of Friesland, even though both languages are related to each other.
