Manila: Sampaloc

Sampaloc is a district in Manila, it got its name from "Sampaloc" Tagalog for Tamarind and Tamarind trees used to grow in this area. The district has witnessed the American colonial troops as well as Filipino revolutions at the turn of the 20th Century.

Getting There

Jeepneys run along Espana Boulevard. Also, there is a PNR Train Stop along Espana Blvd. cr. Algeciras St. which lies in Sampaloc, Manila.

  • Flowers: Sampaloc is known for its Flower market, during valentine's and All Saint's day and All Soul's Day, it is flocked by people. Open 24 hours.
Eating

Sampaloc is famous for its open air lechon (roasted pig) restaurants.
