McArthur

McArthur is a city in the Shasta Cascades region of California.

By car is the most practical way to go, as it's a small town.

For more scenery, just walk. To go more quickly, drive a car.

• Inter-Mountain Fair, 44218 A St, (530) 336-5695. A nice fair that is completely old-fashioned, complete with farm animal contests, rodeos, parades, and even a scholarship program.

• Ahjumawi Lava Springs SP - Uncrowded caving and boating are unrivaled here in this part of the country. This is a pristine wilderness area, so if you try something as trite as taking a rock with you, you will be busted by the feds. This has its advantages, however, as the place is so prehistoric-looking, you will be expecting dinosaurs. It is located northwest of McArthur, and you have to have a boat to access it.

There are no listed motels in McArthur, so if you want to stay in a motel, there are some in nearby Fall River Mills. However, if you have an RV and don't mind using it, here is an RV park:
