Menton

Menton is the "The Lemon Festival Capital of the World", located very close to the border of France and Italy and in many ways is more Italian than French. It has its own microclimate, generally milder than the rest of the French Riviera, and became in the late Nineteenth Century a place where Northern Europeans with TB came to either regain their health or to die.

Menton Travel Tips

  • If you are fed up of the prententiousness of some of the Cote d'Azur, take a short train ride to Menton. Just as pretty, but with more of a grounded relaxed feel to it and some stunning views and a good beach.  Andy G.
  • Menton is nice, relaxed. in february they make huge statutes out of oranges, tangerines, lemons. when i was there it was a disney theme, very nice.  Orliande G.
  • It's the miniature of Nice.. nice palaces and marvellous sea!  Beatrice B.
