Murmansk is a city in the extreme northwest of Russia and the world's largest city north of the Arctic Circle. With a population of over 300,000, Murmansk is the largest city in the Arctic and an important Russian naval base and commercial port.

  • There is no night for nearly 2 summer months due to the Polar day when the sun doesn't go down :). There is no day for nearly 1.5 winter months due to the Polar night when the sun doesn't rise :). From time to time you can be tempted away by the polar lights that you can see in the sky :) • Maria T.
  • Always have a new tire in your car while traveling in northern Russia's outback! Some roads can be very bad... A 4x4 could be a good idea, in a matter of fact, especially if you intend to cross rivers. • Rémi B.
