Norfolk Island is an island in the South Pacific Ocean, an Australian territory. It is 1600 km east of Sydney and Brisbane and 1000 km northwest of Auckland. Norfolk Island was a penal colony for the British colony of New South Wales during the periods 1788–1814 and 1825–1855.
