Regions

Northeast Tasmania is a great place to visit for a few days. If your interests are bird watching, bushwalking, golf, local produce, wine and meeting the friendly locals then you should plan to spend a few days in this region.

Cities

Launceston is the major city with an airport just 15 minutes out of town. Several flights come in and out everyday and there is a bus to the city centre.

  • Bridport is a "village by the sea" where the locals go to play in the summer. But it's fantastic in the winter too. No crowds on the beaches the winter climate is perfect for exploring and relaxing, fresh seafood from the wharf - what more could you want.

  • Scottsdale is the largest town servicing the rural area.This is the commercial centre, where you will find banks, electrical and furniture shops, plus all the other services you may require. The local council offices are here too.

Getting There

There is a bus service to Scottsdale, Bridport and Derby but it is best to have your own transport.

Getting Around

The major roads are sealed to allow convenient moving from point A to point B but if you really want to explore you need to get off thebeaten track up some of the gravel roads and get our of the vehicle and walk.

Sights

Rolling hills, waterfalls, bushwalking, fishing, golfing, dolphin watching, join the beach culture with the locals.

Eating

Bridport and Scottsdale have some lovely eateries, restaurant,takeaways,cafes and holtels.

Drinking

The Bay Inn at Bridport is a popular watering hole for the locals.

Safety

Cottages on Charles and Cottage on the Park are conveniently located in the centre of Scottsdale. Fully furnished and quiped accommodation for the traveller to spend some time. Suitable for families or those relocating to the region.
