Ollantaytambo

Ollantaytambo is a town in the Sacred Valley of the Incas near Cuzco in the Southern Sierra region of Peru. This is where the Incas retreated after the Spanish took Cuzco. Much of the town is laid out in the same way as it was in Inca times.

Ollantaytambo Travel Tips
Ollantaytambo travel tips courtesy of GeckoGo
  • Ollantaytambo is a very beautiful town and I wish we had spent the night there.  Emma D.
  • If you're not taking the train back to Cuzco from here, there are right outside the station taxis and busses. We took one of the big busses - they only cost 5 Soles per person for this 1hour 45min. trip, are comfortable and there is enough space.  Özlem G.
  • A wonderful small town, with interesting ruins, and a colorful local market.  Great place to explore on foot and a nice stopover en route to Machu Picchu.  Juanita N.
