Plovdiv

Plovdiv is the second-largest city in Bulgaria, and one of the oldest cities in Europe. It is located in the large plain between the Rhodope Mountains in the south of Bulgaria and the Balkan Range, or Old Mountains that runs through the center of Bulgaria.

  • Beautiful colorful old town, one of the oldest town of Europe : Philippopolis, Trimontium, Plovdiv. Now built on seven hills.  Etienne F.
  • Lovely Roman theatre, some excellent windy medieval streets and a great mosque. (Ask the guy in there and he might take you up the minaret for a bit of baksheesh. great views of the city!)  Russell S.
