Puerto Maldonado

Puerto Maldonado is the main city of the Departemant of Madre de Dios, Peru. The city itself has not too many tourist attractions, but it is the starting point for jungle trips. To get to Puerto Maldonado, one usually must travel from Lima - Cusco first before reaching the Padre Aldamiz airport in Puerto Maldonado.

Puerto Maldonado Travel Tips
Puerto Maldonado travel tips courtesy of GeckoGo
  • Avoid the hideous shopping centre! If you're just stopping over on your way further south or before heading accross to the national parks, you would do better to stay in Puerto Varas.  Tess C.
  • An interesting and bustling town, not necessarily a place to spend much time, but the launch point to visit the Tambopata region of the Amazon Rainforest. Only way to the lodges is a wonderfully relaxing boat ride. Well worth the trip to see the Macaws and other wildlife.  Juanita N.
  • check out the Market... it has nearly everything for sale from fruits veggies, to meats fishes, to machetes  scalpels, to dvd players and radios.   Risto R.
