Queenstown

Queenstown is an an old mining town that has been recognised by the National Trust as a historic town. It is about a 3 1/2-hour drive from Hobart on the Lyell Highway. Mining began here in the late 1800s, first with gold and later copper.

  • There is very little to see or do in Queenstown. It is an old mining town. We drove through and I was ill and had to present to the Queenstown Hospital, they were really nice, but seriously under equipped. Turned out I was sick because I was pregnant, but they did not even have pregnancy tests …  Michelle Q.
