Rabat literally "Fortified Place" is the capital city of Morocco. The city is located on the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the river Bou Regreg. On the facing shore of the river lies Salé, Rabat's bedroom community.

  • There are surely more interesting places in Marocco than Rabat, especially its market is nothing like the real Maroccan markets in some more remote places. It may be a good start, though, if you need to adapt to local habits. It is sort of in between real Marocco and Europe, say (but don't take me …  Jan H.
  • In addition to the "tour hassan" where you will find the mausolé of the king "mohammed V", there is a very pretty area in the old medina, called "les oudayas"..... for info the lastest king mohamaed VI is renovating the small ouead "belgama" to a very attractive harbour...  El Q.
  • Don't forget your passport if you want to visit the embassy. They won't let you past the gate without it. Also, learn French. The guard doesn't speak English.  Erin F.
