Rethymno Prefecture
Rethymno is in the Greek island of Crete.
Crete is approximately 260 km long and 60 km wide.
Cities
- Rethymno — this interesting town is mostly popular with families
- Bali — not the Indonesian island, but a popular tourist village
- Plakias — a stunning, long, gently shelving largely sandy beach
- Margarites — a surprisingly beautiful and quiet town south of Rethymno off the old road to Heraklion, famous for its ceramic cottage industry. Look around the village before buying; some workshops are hidden gems, others are low-quality tourist traps.
