Santiago de Compostela

Santiago de Compostela is the capital city of Galicia, Spain, and one of the most important places for Catholicism because it's supposedly the place where St. James is buried. Santiago de Compostela was originally founded by the Suebi in the early 400s, as part of the collapse of the Roman Empire.

Santiago de Compostela Travel Tips
Santiago de Compostela travel tips courtesy of GeckoGo
  • The city of pilgrims!! I recomend to make the "road to santiago". The "french walk" starts at the pyrines mountains until Santiago, around 750 km. The landscapes are fascinating!! Santiago it's a medieval, student's city with an attractive night life. Enjoy it :o)  Erika P.
  • Una de las ciudades mas bonitas y mas interesantes de España, con una gran oferta cultural y gastronomica, que la hace un destino muy recomendable para aquellos que quieran pasar unas vacaciones especiales  Daniel C.
  • A nice old city with a lot to see and do. Parador next to the Cathedral is one of the most amazing places I ever stayed in - amazing!  Danijela M.
