Saskatoon

Saskatoon is a city in central Saskatchewan. With a metropolitan population of about 257,000 people, it is the province's largest city. It's a little oasis among wheat fields. The name Saskatoon comes from a native word for a berry that grows along the river called missaskquahtoomina.

Saskatoon Travel Tips
Saskatoon travel tips courtesy of GeckoGo
  • Downtown is really small, but there are some cool shops to see, and in the summer there are some festivals on Broadway that are cool the check out.  Christina G.
  • Durand's Shoe Store downtown is almost reason enough to go there for me. They carry a large line of funky shoes that are hard to find elsewhere. I've dropped a lot of money there...  Sarah I.
  • Not much to do here. The University of Saskatchewan has the only synchrotron in Canada, known as the Canadian Light Source. The last time I visited was 2000, when they just started the construction.  Gilbert T.
