Hiking / Mountain Biking - There are miles of hiking/mountain biking trails where you can enjoy the views of the river and mountains. Watch climbers work thier way up the famous "Monkey Face".
The closest hotels are located in Redmond, 15 miles north of Bend.
Many visitors to Smith Rock opt for the bivouac camping area. Although it is considered primitive it does have picnic tables, running water, flush toilets and shower facilities. The camp sites are walk-in and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact the park for more information. (541) 548-7501 or (800) 551-6949
There is also camping available at the Skull Hollow Campground located 8 miles east of Smith Rock. This site does not have water available and only has pit toilets. Fees are $5 per site plus $3 per additional vehicle. Fires are permitted but wood is scarce. Bring your own firewood. No reservations accepted.
There is no backcountry camping at Smith Rock as it is only permitted in designated areas.
