Southend

Southend-on-Sea is a seaside resort about 40 miles east of London based at the mouth of the River Thames Estuary. Around the late 1800's there were two main villages: Prittlewell which is famous for its Priory and Leigh-on-Sea, a mile or so along the coast, famous for its cockles and seafood - which also still exists.

Southend Travel Tips
Southend travel tips courtesy of GeckoGo
  • Brillant place to go and chill on the beach. Real good looking girls there. Bet the girls could feel the same about us guys  Chris C.
  • Where do you begin with a place with the longest walking pier in the world... unfortunately its condition is not up to what it could be. Having said that, steer clear of the pier and the amusement park and head to the nearby Fish restaurant opposite. The fish and chips you get there are superb!  Nick I.
  • A must see is the pier! ! 1/4 miles long making it the longest pleasure pier in the world.  Liam D.
