Stirling

Stirling is one of Scotland's most historic cities and the county town of Stirlingshire. In 2002, Stirling became Scotland's sixth city. Also known as "The Gateway To The Highlands", Stirling used to be the only connection to the Highlands and has therefore a significant position in history.

Stirling Travel Tips
Stirling travel tips courtesy of GeckoGo
  • Take the time to brush up on Scottish history...William Wallace, Robert the Bruce......it all happened here.  Derrell W.
  • Take is all the history by walking. We walked from town through the backstreet across to Cambuskenneth where you will find the ruins of Cambuskenneth Abbey. From here we walked up to the Wallace Momument and then back into town passing various signs/monuments to past battles, etc  Danielle W.
  • Take a guided tour of the castle. It's not cheap, but I did this some time ago and still remember what an interesting tour this was.  Andy G.
