Taghazout

Taghazout is a small port about 20km north of Agadir in south-west Morocco. Taghazout is currently under massive development. The original beach cafes and shops have been flattened. You will still find sun beds, camel rides and maybe the odd jet ski, but watch this space...

Getting There

Overview Bus companies CTM and Supratours are good, reliable bus services. There are several buses daily to get you from Agadir (nearest airport) in relative comfort. Local bus number 32 runs the Agadir–Taghazout line (12 Dh). There is also an Agadir–Tamri bus passing through. Grand taxis leave from the main place and some just run up and down the Agadir–Tamri road (e.g. to Auorir: 5 Dh).

Specifics From Marrakech: If you arrive at Marrakech-Menara airport, you can take bus No. 19 to the centre of town if you don’t have too much luggage. Otherwise, take a taxi, which will take about 15 minutes. Once there you’ll find the Supratours bus station ( www.supratours.ma ) near the Gare de Marrakech and the CTM bus station ( www.ctm.ma ) around the corner. These will both get you to Agadir for 100 Dirham and should take 3 and a half hours to reach it. You can also take a Grand taxi if you prefer comfort, which costs 80€ by day and 120€ by night. From Casablanca: If you arrive at Mohammed V airport in Casablanca, you have a few options. You can either jump on the train to Marrakech and from there get a CTM ( www.ctm.ma) or Supratours bus ( www.supratours.ma) to Agadir. Alternately, you can take a train to Casa Voyageurs and take a Supratours bus directly from there. These run at specific times every day and take 6-8 hours to reach Agadir. You could also take a taxi from the airport to the CTM station in Casablanca (which should cost 100-150 Dirham) and then take a bus from there (which costs around 190Dirham one way). The quickest route is probably the train to Marrakech and then a bus , and it has the added benefit of allowing you to pass through a major city and perhaps stop there for a night to see the market and the town. The train can be crowded though, so it’s best to get a first class ticket so you have a booked seat. The price difference is not major. From Tangier: Take a train from Tangier via Rabat-Casablanca to Marrakech. Then take a bus to Agadir (see below). From Agadir: You can either take a taxi from the airport to Taghazout , which costs 300 Dirham, or you can take the local bus to Agadir and then take the 32 or 33 to Taghazout. The bus arrives every 30 minutes from 6am to 8pm and takes 45 mins. Cost is 7 Dirham and it stops in the centre of town. From Agadir long distance bus station, you can take a taxi to Taghazout. The taxi should cost about 120 Dirham. Alternately, you can take a short taxi ride to the local bus station and take bus 32 or 33 to Taghazout. The bus arrives every 30 minutes from 6am to 8pm and takes 45 mins. Cost is 7Dirham and it stops in the centre of town.

Et voila, you’re here!

Drinking

There is no alcohol for sale in Taghazout, so if you want some, you will need to buy it in nearby Agadir. Apparently the guys at Ali Baba's will do this for you if you don't have transportation - for a price.

Hotels & Accommodation

The only official accommodation is the probably overpriced Auberge. However touts at the central square will be able to arrange you a room in an apartment for about 350 Dh or even a whole house for a little more. Bring a passport copy.
